Lucio Arce – A la Salida del Cabaret

The tango artist I would like to introduce in May 2013 is Lucio Arce with his CD ‘A la salida del cabaret’

I know this is a CD from 2012But sometimes it takes a while for a CD to reach me here in the tropical north. When I heard the songs, I was completely captivated by Lucio Arce’s sound, which bridges the gap between traditional tango and modern chanson. Nevertheless, you can still sense a touch of the master Carlos Gardel in the background. It’s primarily an unplugged, singer-songwriter tango, but it feels good and is danceable.

In contrast to earlier recordings, a more contemplative mood prevails here. It is not the stage of the cabaret that Lucio Arce wants to lead us to, but rather its exit…

Here are the songs:

Also worth mentioning is his debut album ‘Tangos inesperados’ from 2004:

unexpected tangos

Here is the video of the most fascinating song, a traditional milonga (‘La fiesta de camacho’) and a totally fabulous video. If this milonga doesn’t get us onto the dance floor, then we need to see a tango doctor.

Abrazos,
